MakeUseOf is a sort of tech blog/web 2.0 directory which only showcases the coolest, most useful and free apps out there.

This isn't a strictly techno-geek's blog, it's for everyone, even those that confuse ICQ with a stay in Cedars Sinai, or those who think tweets have something to do with Looney Tunes.

Sites consists of three main sections:

1. Blog (daily list-style software and web application reviews)
2. Directory (free web apps and mobile tools)
3. Tech Fun (Funny pictures and videos for tech minded folks, aka geeks)

Directory categorized into two main types: Web Apps and Mobile Apps. Each entry is equipped with a brief description, a rundown of how it works, examples/pictures, links and commenting is optional. At the top of the page you'll find a menu of sorts, under which you'll find allsections with related sub-links.

They've got a range of items, which span from pretty basic yet useful stuff, to the more technologically amazing. You can subscribe to their feeds and download the toolbar (coming soon) too.

How is MakeUseOf going to make money? Is it so different from all the other meta-web 2.0 blogs out there? Will they really give users practical, noteworthy info?

"As about makeuseof.com, it's very different from most of the other tech blogs/websites. It's unique and original in what it reviewes and how it does it. On makeuseof we don't write about any new web applications that comes around but only about ones that are COOL, FREE and USEFUL. It may be a subjective judgement but that's how it is. We also try to keep it simple and all accessible, so that even newbies who never used such sites like Digg and Delicious or ones who think AJAX is famous washing powder brand can easily find their way around."

The beauty of MakeUseOf.com is that it stays true to its name. The site has quite a bunch of useful reviews and descriptions which everyone who uses a cellphone or computer, not just nerds who read Digg and Twitter and RSS, can really use. The articles are fun to read, not too stagnant nor too colloquial.
