Movie and TV buffs are well-advised to direct their browsers to the Jinni website. Basically, Jinni is a social search and recommendation engine that employs Movie genome, a system that has been developed by the Jinni team in order to make for richer video descriptions. The current Jinni search engine takes into consideration aspects such as genre, plot and atmosphere to the effects of finding the right movie or show for the right person.

Upon singing up, a profile page is created. The recommendations a user receives are not really based upon statistics, but on the different aspects of contents that he or she has stated a liking for. Suggestions are then included on the section of the profile that is entitled “My Recommendations”. A link named “Why Similar?” will provide the user with an explanation for the recommendation of a title, and the aspects the user is bound to enjoy.

For its part, a “Solutions” page lists the advantages the Jinni system has for different individuals such as TV operators and Internet content providers – that is, those who have to deal with the existing trends of personalization and on-demand programming.

In their own words
“Films inspire us. Obsess. Puzzle. Delight. That's what we think - and that's why we started Jinni. Because the usual keywords and genres don't even try to capture the meaty stories and heady experiences of film, and so they're not much use when choosing what to see next.”
Why it might be a killer
It makes for personalized recommendations that take several aspects into account.
Some questions
