Interes.tingness.com - Pretty Pictures on a Wall

Suffering from a bad case of visual overload of the ugly kind? It’s true, there’s a lot of ugliness to be had out there, from bad design, to your next door neighbor. Sometimes it’s nice to have a reprieve from visual atrophy, which is why Interestingness is so appealing. Despite the interesting name, Interestingness is worth looking at. Really. Simply put, it’s a new “interface experiment” that mashes Flickr with Interestingness’s own API to create a stunning visual wall of photos for your pleasure. You can choose a photo wall by date or ‘Randomise’. Click on any pic to access its Flickr page. You can also customize the number of pictures on the page being displayed at once. The max is 500. Images can be viewed as big as 500 pixels as well.

“Interestingness is an interface experiment written in ActionScript 3 that uses the Flickr.com API (Beta) to display a photo wall using the Interestingess algorithm. The Interestingness photo wall is updated daily, throughout the day. Up to 500 images and photos are displayed on the wall at anyone time. Users can search previous days’ interestingness feeds by entering the date and fetching it.”

Why it might be a killer

Interestingness has a nice, slick UI that’s visually appeasing and is a great little app for Flickr and photo enthusiasts.

  Some questions

It’s slow to load and doesn’t really offer anything new. Will users be impressed? Or will they want more?
