InGameNow is a recently launched community for sports fans that uses a similar distribution method to Twitter for sending user-generated sports news, opinion, and commentary. These updates are also filtered based on the number of votes that a given user has received. Basically, the more reputable a user is, the higher up on the page their comments are displayed. While they don’t currently support SMS, InGameNow does allow you to get your updates by instant messenger, mobile internet and email so you don’t necessarily have to visit the main page to receive your updates. To get started, sign up for an account, create a profile, and then subscribe to updates on your favorite teams, games, or friends. You can also post content, rate it, and earn points to gain respect in the community.

In their own words
“InGameNow was created by ten friends - all sports fans - who trade regular emails and text messages about their favorite teams, players and in-game action. We have so much fun doing so, we decided to invite the world!”
Why it might be a killer
With a functionality similar to Twitter, which is a proven means of distributing near real-time user generated content, look for InGameNow to become a popular means of receiving sports updates.
