    Groupomatic.com - Getting Groups Together

    groupomatic

Group-O-Matic is a site that helps you create groups and get actual members to join. Basically, if you want to start up a group, all you’ve got to do is fill out a form. You’ll need to include your city, your group type or category, e.g., fitness or literature, as well as a description of what exactly your group is. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be notified either when new members join or once X amount of people have joined. Once you’ve got a sizable group going, you can schedule events and organize meetings, letting members decide when the best dates are, how many guests they can bring, etc. Each group is accorded a free, public webpage; they can get their own subdomain and email as well. Actual group members are granted access to the private group site. If you’d like to join a group, rather than start one, simply use the search function on the homepage. It’s all free and anyone can use it.

    In their own words

“Group-O-Matic is a free service that helps people form local groups of strangers and friends for events. Common group examples are book clubs, political groups, business networking groups, etc. Each group gets its own public web page at groupomatic.com where people can join. People find these pages through email invitations, web page badges, through searching groupomatic.com, or through searching major search engines. Group-O-Matic is both intended to give structure to existing groups as well as to help brand new groups form.
So what are you waiting for? Check it out!”

Why it might be a killer

Group-o-Matic makes getting together and finding people with similar interests easy. It basically does the work for you. You create a group and wait for members to join. After that, posting and organizing events is simple using the site’s tools.

    Some questions

Group-o-Matic only works if people join. How is the site going to attract more users? Will they add more social network type functionalities, making it easier for members to find like minded members?
