    Fundable.org - Online Fundraisers

    fundable

Have a promising project and you are cashed out? Got a dying pet but can’t pay for the medicine? Want to take advantage of a multi purchaser promo? Well, Fundable.org is the site for you to visit. How does it work? It is very easy. When you need money for just anything, you subscribe to Fundable.org, totally free of charge, and start a collection. You set the minimum per person, and the goal. The collection has an expiry date, and people are able to send pledges. The people sending pledges are not to be charged until the goal is reached. Of course, sending pledges (through paypal or credit card) is also absolutely free, until the goal is made, when they will charge you the amount of your pledge. So when that amount is reached, the money is sent through paypal or check to the group leader (the guy who started the collection) and he will make sure that the money goes where it should. Fundable.org (which is not a nonprofit, although the name might mislead you to thinking it is), will charge a commission of 7% to the group leader once the goal is met and the money has been sent to him. So basically, it is an easy way to raise money for just anything…don’t miss this, presidential candidates!

    In their own words

“Fundable.com lets groups of people pool funds to make purchases or raise money. Similar to online auctions, Fundable's pages are created by people who use this site. Each project has a description of how much money needs to be collected and what it will do. Once enough pledges (not payments) have been collected, Fundable turns them into real payments and sends the total to the project's organizer. No one takes a risk when making a pledge: if a collection expires before reaching its total in pledges, Fundable deletes all pledges and never charges money. This lets you participate in a group purchase or fundraiser without worrying about what other people will do. No one pays until and unless everyone else makes a pledge.”

Why it might be a killer

Fundable.org is a great idea, and your imagination is the limit of what you might raise money for. It is a fast and secure way to raise money or even make group purchases in a very simple way. Also, you have the security that your credit card or paypal account will not be charged unless the goal is met, so you know you are not throwing the money away here: either you are sure that the money goes to the group leader when you pledge for a fund raise (a good cause, most probably); or you are being charged when you are sure the group purchase is going on.

    Some questions

Are the group leaders trustworthy? How can we know that all causes posted in this Fundable.org are noble? Are soooooo many pets dying? How can they make the whole idea of online fundraising more serious for people to send some money? Won’t the good souls prefer offline charities and other fund raisers where they can actually see the need, and how it is fulfilled, to these online fund raisers?
