Want to brush up on your vocabulary and at the same time do something good? FreeRice.com is a site that offers you a vocabulary game that gives hungry people rice. This is how it works. When you enter FreeRice.com a vocabulary word appears and below it there are four options of what the word could mean. If you click on the correct answer you donate 10 grains of rice. For every correct answer you donate 10 grains of rice. If you get an answer incorrect nothing happens, you just get a new word. FreeRice.com has vocabulary for every level from college professors to children. FreeRice.com determines your level by giving you a random word and adjusts your level based on your performance. If you get three words correct in a row, the level goes up, if you get a word wrong, the level goes down. You keep on accumulating rice and that rice will be donated to hungry people. The rice is donated by companies that advertise on the site such as Macy's. The World Food Program (WFP) distributes the donated rice. Everyone could use a bit brushing up on their vocabulary, so you might as well help someone else while you are doing it. Visit FreeRice.com to help make a difference in your vocabulary and the world.

In their own words
"FreeRice is a sister site of the world poverty site, Poverty.com.
FreeRice has two goals:
1. Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.
Whether you are CEO of a large American corporation or a street child in India, improving your vocabulary can improve your life. It is a great investment in yourself.
Perhaps even greater is the investment your donated rice makes in hungry human beings, enabling them to function and be productive. Somewhere in the world, a person is eating rice that you helped provide. Thank you."
Why it might be a killer
FreeRice.com has an absolutely stunning interface. The vibrant greens of the rice patties is very stimulating yet soothing at the same time. FreeRice.com is easy to navigate and has information not only on the game but world hunger in general along with links to helpful sites such as The World Food Program. FreeRice.com provides helpful services to everyone involved, online users can improve their vocabulary skills and those in need of food receive rice that can help them become stronger and focus on their lives and schooling.
Some questions
Is there a limit to the amount of rice one person can give? Where exactly is the rice going geographically? It would be a great feature if online users could see where the rice they have donated is going.
