Footnote.com - Historical Documents via Computer

    footnote

Footnote.com is site for viewing and annotating historical documents online. Historians and students interested in looking at miscellaneous papers of the Continental Congress or an aerial photograph of the missiles that precipitated the Cuban Missle Crisis can easily browse for them. Users can also create a "member page" to explore topics in more detail and meet others who share their interests.

    In their own words

"At Footnote.com you will find millions of images of original source documents, many of which have never been available online before."

Why it might be a killer

Partnered with the National Archives, Footnote will prove an invaluable resource for historians, libraries and those in the educational system. The membership and downloading fees are extremely reasonable.

    Some questions

Will it move beyond a niche market in a culture increasingly disinterested in history?
