    Flittr.cc - Picture Your Words

    flittr

A new mashup that crosses Twitter with Flickr, Flittr will let you visualize the most recent tweets that have surfaced. How does that work? Well, what it does is to retrieve the latest tweets from the public timeline and then examine the text minutely. After it has done that, it will come up with a search term that will be used for crawling Flickr and coming up with 16 relevant image results. These are then displayed alongside the tweet on the main page of the site.

As it tends to be the case with resources like these, you can see the best mashups by clicking on the pertinent link, although the results seemed to be a bit arbitrary when I checked it out.

On the other hand, you can Flittr yourself simply by adding your Twitter username to the site’s URL in the way that is described online. So, if you want to check out how your tweets translate visually this website will let you answer that very same question.

    In their own words

“Flittr was created by James Harton in March 2009 as an experiment with in using Rails to mash up Twitter and Flickr. The main Flittr page retrieves the latest tweet from the public timeline and fiddles with the text to generate a search term on Flickr and takes the sixteen highest results and displays them as a mosaic.”

Why it might be a killer

Those who wish to have a visual Twitter experience will put it to the task.

    Some questions

How relevant the resulting pictures actually are?
