FitBrains.com - Games to Train Your Brain

    fitbrains

Studies show that exercising your brain can improve its health and functioning, in the same way that exercise can improve your physical health. Fit Brains is a new site from Vivity Labs that offers brain fitness products that are fun and engaging, but also stimulate cognitive functioning of the brain. There are currently four games up on the site (with titles like “Crime Scene Shuffle” and “Deep Blue Expedition”), with a fifth coming soon, and all are free. A paid, premium service is in the works. In addition to the games, FitBrains.com also provides tools to measure your personal brain fitness, and the games can then be personalized to your own brain metrics. Fit Brains also integrates social networking aspects and hosts brain teaser competitions (some of which require teamwork), to stimulate social functioning of the brain too. In the Brain Science section of FitBrains.com, you can learn more about the science behind Fit Brains and read up on lifestyle changes that can also improve brain fitness.

    In their own words

"Fit Brains is about providing brain exercise that is fun, engaging and personalized. Our aim is to build a compelling brain fitness experience that motivates individuals to incorporate brain work-outs into their daily lives."

Why it might be a killer

This site could appeal to users of all ages. The games are fun and engaging, so parents would probably love to get their kids addicted to Fit Brains instead of video games. There are also games appropriate for adults, though, which they can use to help maintain or even improve brain functioning. With a fair amount of scientific backing behind it, Fit Brains has a lot of potential.

    Some questions

What will the premium subscriptions offer that the free versions do not? Are these games really as entertaining as some of the most elaborate, addictive video games out there? Will users really replace video games with Fit Brains games, or just use them as a supplement?
