FastPencil.com - Writing & Publishing Your Own Book

    fastpencil

This site is aimed at the many aspiring writers out there. It includes resources that go from the formulation and channelization of ideas to the actual publishing of the book itself.

This system keeps your notes (and also blog posts) in a centralized location, along with collaboration notes. Then, you can use the provided outlining tools in order to build the structure of the book. For its part, automatic versioning tools are included so that you can explore different structural alternatives until you come across one that reflects your vision. Lastly, the recourses for publishing the book and distributing it are provided.

There are two different packages, and they go by names which are self-explanatory: “Publishing Package” and “Author Services”. Pricing is discussed on the relevant part of the website.

The team behind this initiative hopes to help people create the next great literary sensation. That is a lofty goal for sure. Time will tell whether or not they will manage to achieve that transcendence. I advice you to give the site a try and see if you think they have what it takes for making it.

    In their own words

“FastPencil is self-publishing with a twist. The traditional publishing process is a daunting one that can take many months of effort and more money than most writers anticipate. It’s no wonder authors get discouraged. You shouldn’t have to ask anyone’s permission to write and publish your own book! We have removed the hurdles inherent in traditional publishing by combining amazing advances in print on demand technology with a sophisticated online workflow system.”

Why it might be a killer

Writing a book is daunting, and publishing it seems something inaccessible to many. This solution democratizes the whole process.

    Some questions
