ePrep.com - SAT Prep Online

Anyone who has suffered through SAT prep courses knows that there has got to be a better way. Long hours at night school with hundreds of other kids, each with separate learning needs, are boring and expensive. Leveraging broadband video to connect students directly with a test prep expert, a Princeton expert has developed an online prep program that guarantee an increase in SAT scores. The program is based on a results-driven methodology with four steps: test, grade, review, and repeat. ePrep actually ships students physical SAT test booklets which the student takes under simulated conditions. The student then logs into their account to grade their tests and immediately launch into detailed review of missed or skipped problems. The review is one of the most important parts and eprep.com really comes through with excellent personalized, video lessons that show the student how to answer a question instead of simply telling them. The expert works out the problem on the same test booklet and pencil as the student. After the review, students will repeat the process and take another SAT practice test. In addition to SAT prep, there is also a program for the PSAT and interactive vocabulary building tool.

  In their own words

"Most online SAT preparation programs are merely repurposed books, giving students the burdensome, confusing, and often time consuming task of figuring out how each answer explanation relates to the execution of the problem and the process required to actually work out the answer. ePrep videos model problem solving in the very environment (i.e., same space, same pencil) that students will face on test day."

Why it might be a killer

The teaching experts who designed the four-step methodology really know their audience; the program is ideal for high school students and personalized lessons might help keep them focused and motivated. Having the program available round the clock is very important and will give students a little slack during a very stressful time.

  Some questions

The program is available 24/7 but students will have to be highly self-motivated to stick with it. Is there a plan for motivation? Are the practice tests actual old versions of the SATs that have been administered? Are there plans to add a personal counselor for students who need extra help?

Eprep sounds great. Anything that costs less than those expensive courses is good. Of course, motivation is always a factor. The highly motivated student will always do better.http://satprepcourses.tumblr.com/

Ahhh -- ePrep seems to be making quite the splash. A few of my friends used it, so I did, and it beat the guy my parents hired to tutor me....

I am career educator who is nearing retirement. I have been following ePrep for the past year. It is a pretty interesting company with huge market potential. The things I like best about Karl Schellscheidt are his passion, teaching style and commitment to offering quality products and advice.

I heard about the free PSAT product from my teacher about one week before the test. It really liked using it. Best of all, I felt confident going in to take the test. My only negative comment is that the homeroom page was a little confusing at first. It is the page that summarizes your scores.

I read somewhere that ePrep plans to host free webinars as an additional way of supporting students. I tried their free PSAT course shortly before the PSAT on Oct 17. It was pretty helpful and easy to use.
