    dekoh

Dekoh is an open-source site that provides a platform for applications to be built for offline desktop use with automatic integration upon gaining an Internet connection. It´s a great way to access your web media applications without being connected the internet, and it keeps them nicely organized. Their free service already includes a music player, virtual library, and photo sharing communities, allowing friends to see what´s going on with your desktop media without you having to upload anything to a web-based service provider.

    In their own words

“So far Desktop applications and web applications were built and deployed as silos. Desktop applications are usually written OS specific and offer richer user interface. Web applications are accessed through web browsers. They require Internet connectivity and user data uploaded or saved on websites. Collaborating and sharing data is easy in web applications.

Why it might be a killer

It saves you time and energy to store your web applications in a non-browser desktop. The convenience, sharing features and ease are attractive, and to boot, it´s free. Dekoh will be useful for those who like to share music or pictures.

    Some questions

How is Dekoh going to overcome their predecessor Adobe Apollo? Is there a large enough market to sustain both similar services?
