dagruk.com - Funny Photos for Cell Phone Contacts

    dagruk

According to dagruk.com, a ‘dagruk’ is “a purposeful display of ridiculously funny pictures of family and friends.” On this site, you can find humorous or just plain weird pictures and easily send them to your cell phone, to be assigned to any contact in your phone. For instance, choose an image of Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air TV series, send it to you cell phone through dagruk.com, and assign it to your brother. Whenever your brother calls, Carlton’s picture will now appear on your caller ID. The images available on dagruk.com are divided into five categories: TV, Movies, Funny Men, Funny Women, and ‘I Have No Idea.’ Dagruk.com is free to use, but cell phone carriers may charge you for receiving a photo message. The site currently works with Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Cingular, in the U.S. only.

You do not have to register in order to send images from dagruk.com, but you must log in to search images by category, view top downloaded photos, upload your own photos to the collection, or vote on other users’ submissions. Using the buddy feature allows you to send text messages to all of your dagruk buddies at once. You can also add a dagruk widget to your personal web page.

    In their own words

“Pick a picture and we'll send it to your cell phone. Save the picture to your cell phone's picture gallery. From there you can assign the picture to any of your contacts: friends, family, even your goofy business associates. All that's left now is to enjoy your new picture every time that contact calls!”

Why it might be a killer

Being free and not requiring registration should help dagruk.com to gain users. As more images are added, including those uploaded by members, this site could catch on as a bit of Internet fun that you can still get a laugh from after you’ve signed offline.

    Some questions

Could this site add tags to the photos, to make searching easier? Will dagruk.com be able to make a profit based solely on donations and a handful of Google ads? Will some users abuse the fact that you can send pictures to anyone’s cell phone – not just your own - without logging in?
