    Confer.com.au - Australia's Digg Clone

    confer

Confer is essentially a clone of Digg specifically for Australians. Like Digg, you can post various content that you've found and want to share with the rest of the community. Registered members can then comment on your postings and vote on them so that the most popular content makes it to the homepage, showing you what's best on the site first. You can check out content by recently submitted posts, popular posts, or by using the tag cloud. The only major difference between this site and Digg is that it's more localized to Australia, giving it more of a community feel for Aussies.

    In their own words

"Confer is the Australian web site where you can share news, articles and interesting content that you find on the web. Members of Confer can discuss submitted articles, share views and vote on submissions. Articles are promoted to the front page based on popularity (member votes) creating, in effect, an online news channel powered by the community.

It's a great way to discover content on the web and also have your say on the latest issues in the news."

Why it might be a killer

Australian companies will have more of an incentive to get information on them up on the site for voting by people who will actually care about it. The niche makes advertising easy to find.

    Some questions

Will Australians prefer using this site or using the more global Digg? What other features are they planning on adding to make their site more unique?
