CallWave.com - Check your text messages, emails, and faxes from any device

    callwave

Find yourself struggling to answer and respond to huge amounts of text messages and phone calls throughout the day? CallWave is a service that provides various widgets that are intended to simplify your communications by linking your mobile phone, computer, and fax machine. An example of one of their services is Vtxt, which turns your mobile voicemail into readable, searchable and storable content. Using speech recognition and Web 2.0 visual voicemail technology, Vtxt lets you read blubs from your voicemail right on your handset so you can decide whether a callback or text reply is necessary. Their Free Text Messaging Widget (also known as a Gadget) allows you to send SMS messages to your friends worldwide from the convenience of your computer´s desktop. You can also get faxes by email. The idea is that their services save you time and energy. Right now they are available for free in Beta format, and the site alludes to offering each service individually for a small fee.

    In their own words

“CallWave is leading the way in developing applications that make phones and computers work better together. With CallWave, tasks that are difficult to do on the phone become much easier on the desktop - without changing phone numbers, handsets or service providers. CallWave enables consumers and businesses to get more out of the devices they use everyday - their computers and phones. CallWave also private-labels convergence applications, such as PC-based visual voicemail, to service providers to reduce churn, expand on-line marketing and drive revenues. Founded in 1998, CallWave is headquartered in Santa Barbara, California.”

Why it might be a killer

Professionals will enjoy being able to manage emails, faxes, and text messages all in one place without running from phone to fax machine to computer. As long as the service is offered for free, people will give it a try, and if it´s a hit, they will be inclined to pay for the services once the site is charging.

    Some questions

Now that more and more people are putting their lives and professions into hand-held computer-phones, will CallWave´s services be necessary?
