Bouldr.net - Find The Best Climbs and Climbers

    bouldr

Looking for climbing buddies or new crags to scale? Bouldr is a new climbing community which lets you connect to other climbers, and also lets you access valuable, user-generated information regarding climbs across the world. The site is based upon user submissions; climbs are evaluated by community members and then published to site, including important safety precautions specific to the climb, if any. In order to browse Bouldr for information and climbing locations, you don't need to register, but if you want to publish your own climb you'll need to sign up. You can search for climbs using the map, or by location, keyword, type, or grade. Since Bouldr is as much a social network as it is a search engine, you can also create a personal profile and connect with other climbers by adding them to your friends. Lastly, you can also check out businesses related to the climbing industry for apparel and equipment.

    In their own words

"Bouldr is a completely new free service that allows climbers from all over the world to share advice, new problems, local knowledge, and other such climbing related information for free"

Why it might be a killer

Bouldr helps make available important information (especially in regards to safety) about more obscure climbing locations that might otherwise remain unpublished, as the content is generated by regular climbers and not paid guides who might only scope out more well-known climbs.

    Some questions

Bouldr is currently pretty limited in content geographically, mostly there are climbs in northern Europe and the Western United States; when and how will more content be added? Is there any incentive to generating climbing information?
