Beta.Kindo.com - Building Your Family Tree

    beta

Kindo, if you happen to look it up in the Urban Dictionary, means cool in new age slang. Kindo, the beta, is a new family oriented site which looks pretty cool upon first glance. Besides some cute and ageless design work, Kindo plays host to a number of easy to use and addictive features. The site's main function is family tree building. Users invite their family members to join and everyone can contribute to branching out the tree by adding names and relations. Each user gets a profile page so you can find out what they've been up to, as well as keep up with important dates (birthdays, anniversaries). The pruning function allows you to see who's who in your tree, i.e. blood relatives only, for simplified navigation. Kindo's available in 7+ languages and it's free to join.

    In their own words

"Kindo is where families get together, build their tree, and grow. Kindo is where you learn more about your family and what they're up to.

It's us trying to connect with our families back home, finding out more what they're up to. It's about creating a modern media/web company that has a 100% focus on the family and what families want. So what you see right now is only the first small step towards realizing this vision. We like to think of the family tree on Kindo as our own version of Disney's Mickey Mouse - something to get it all started."

Why it might be a killer

The developers of Kindo see the site as means to keep in touch with family by discovering roots. The site is meant to be a pleasure to use. It's got a nice set of functions and a user-friendly UI. The proceeds from the Kindo shop go to charity, in concordance with the team's belief in sustainable living.
