behance.net/ - Behance Network: Creative Professional Portfolios & Collaborations

    behance

The Behance Network is a platform for creative professionals to gather, collaborate on projects, and connect with companies and agencies that seek creative talent. The focus of the Behance team is to help creative individuals and organizations boost productivity and present themselves professionally. With robust tools and a great search engine, it is easy to navigate the Behance Network and discover new talent and opportunities.

When you see a team or individual's profile you have the choice of looking at their portfolio, adding them to the watchlist, hearing their shout out or seeing their info, which is their professional information. When you join a circle, each circle has a theme or topic, you can participate in discussions and submit your work on the billboard. Behance.net allows you to look for job opportunities and buy products that will help you organize your projects. Behance.net helps inspire and organize creative minds.

    In their own words

"The Behance Team works day and night to help creative professionals and organizations make ideas happen. We are a bunch of designers, writers, developers, and entrepreneurs with a passion for what we call "productive creativity." We believe that all creative realms, society, and life would be a lot more interesting and enjoyable if more creative ideas were pushed forward. Quite selfishly, we'd like to live in a world where productive creativity yields more inspirational media, progressive arts, groundbreaking discoveries, revolutionary businesses, and less of the same old, same old."

Why it might be a killer

While there are other sites that allow you to upload your portfolio or create a webpage, these options tend to be static. In contrast, the Behance Network is a platform that disseminates your work across galleries, circles, and other sites beyond the Behance Network. The content (or "projects") in each portfolio has a life of it's own. The site is also a source for any company, agency, or individual seeking creative talent.

The site's design is also customized for creative professionals. The design accomodates creatives rather than competing with them. The site is a haven for create minds to help each other achieve their goals.

    Some questions

In order to join the site you must email them and explain your creative project or profession. I wonder if they are very picky about who they permit to join the community. The search engine has a very thorough list of creative professional categories, but there are a number of categories that do not yet have any participants.
