BBCgreen.com - The BBC Goes Green

The BBC is the latest big name to go green. The British Broadcasting Company has launched BBC Green, a site aimed at providing information on the green movement and practical advice for living a more sustainable lifestyle – from composting and solar power to making ethical investments with your money. From the front page, users can jump to various topics: Home & Garden, Food, Travel, Lifestyle & Family, Money. Content includes features like “Myth Busters” and “60 second guide to…” articles. Those with no idea where to even start going green can surf to the “What more can I do?” page, which provides tips on how to reduce your carbon footprint. The tips are divided into three levels based on how much effort and cost are involved on your part, and also give you an idea how much of a difference each action would make in both C02 emissions and cost (reported in UK pounds). You can further personalize your BBC Green experience by registering, creating a profile, sharing articles with friends, or adding content from BBC Green to sites like Facebook, Digg, and del.icio.us.

  In their own words

“BBC Green is the new green and sustainable living website from BBC Worldwide… Our aim is to cut through the confusion surrounding environmental and ethical issues, and to help you to live a sustainable lifestyle.”

Why it might be a killer

The "green" movement is growing in strength these days, and with it, more and more people are turning to the Internet for information and guidance. With a big, trusted name like the BBC behind it, this site could become a leader in this area.

  Some questions

What sets this site apart from other sites focused on green living, other than its connection to the BBC? Is the content, user interface, etc. enough to make it the go-to-website for green living? How often will users visit BBC Green for updates and to read the new content?
