In their own words
"Artabase is a new website which aims to become the world's best online database of art history. Users can sign up for a free user account, then
1. Create a free Artist profile
2. Create a free Gallery profile
3. Upload free Exhibition listings
4. Subscribe to free Arts Opportunities Email Lists which allow arts workers to send jobs, competitions and calls for proposals directly to the inbox of hundreds of arts subscribers withinin their local vicinity, within their country, or internationally depending on which location is the most suitable for the announcement."
Why it might be a killer
ArtBase.net has an attractive interface. The site is easy to navigate and has the main sections neatly listed at the top of the site. The Arts Opportunities Email Lists is a helpful feature for artists looking for new opportunities or exposure. Artists can put a link to their website on their profile page which will help promote their art. Art lovers can learn more about up coming exhibitions and new artists at ArtBase.net.
Some questions
The profiles for the artists on ArtBase.net are very skimpy. Besides a photo of their work, contact information, and a brief description of their work there is nothing else. It would be nice if they could have a small gallery on their profile, or even a resume of where they studied or in what galleries their art has been featured. ArtBase.net seems to like users to galleries and exhibitions, it would be nice if the art was featured on the site itself. Hopefully ArtBase.net will have more international content in the future since the majority o the content is from the United Kingdom.
