ACalorieCounter.com - Counting Calories to Keep Fit

    acaloriecounter

Everyone seems to be counting calories these days. The overwhelming fatness of many in the land of opportunity has seen the rise of fad diets and regimental routines. While not all of these work in the least, smart folks realize that consuming 1000 calories worth of Dunkin Donuts isn't the best you could do for your physique nor for your heart. To facilitate this health kick, we have A Calorie Counter. As you could easily gleam from the name, this site lets you search for the calorie amount in just about any food item. Type in, say muffin, and you'll get a list of different types, for example, English muffins, Mcdonald muffins, those from box mixes, and the like. The site also has plenty of health related articles, guidelines and tips. They'll tell you how to read food labels, how to buy the right breakfast cereal, and how to discern food myths from facts. It's totally free and no registration is necessary.

    In their own words

"a Calorie Counter allows you to search the USDA food nutrition database in the quickest and easiest format it has ever been made available in. A search of any food will bring up the full nutrition facts for that food such as calories, protein, carbs, fat, sugar, cholesterol, sodium, vitamins, and MUCH more.
Just search a Calorie Counter for a food and see its full nutritional content... for free. Simple enough."

Why it might be a killer

This site is really just what the doctor ordered. The search function is as easy to use as any other search you'll find on the web. The articles are very informative and they're written in an easy to understand pedestrian way. Great way to start getting healthy and being more aware of what you put into your body.

    Some questions

I'm not too enthralled with the execution nor presentation of this site. There are a lot of health and diet themed sites which are infinitely more user friendly. This site doesn't even have photos which makes it rather drab and boring. In this media obsessed world will anyone stop and pay attention to so much text? Needs work.
