Once you create your personal profile (called your “base camp”) on the site, you can add and invite friends to join and start hooking up with potential skiing or boarding partners. Basic profile settings include a comment wall, a thumbnail photo, blogs, and the standard personal/contact information section. Profiles can be elaborated with videos and photos, as on other social networks, and you can browse through similar media on other peoples’ profiles (depending on privacy settings) to see who shares similar ski interests. Alternately, you can find buddies by their “Home Base”, i.e. which mountain or resort they frequent the most. You can message users privately, or post on their comment walls, including a photo if you choose. As you browse the site, your “base camp” will constantly be displayed in a mini-window, sending you profile alerts and even giving you the latest weather forecast and snow information about your home base.
