Download the extension and you’ll be able to chat with other Chatsum members browsing the same web page as you are. You can also leave comments, impressions, and ideas on any website you visit and in turn, you’ll be able to read messages left by your fellow chatters. There are also treasure hunt games to keep the fun alive. Chatsum works with Mozilla and Safari. Over 7,000 people have joined up, and you can too for free.

Not a shabby idea. Chatsum connects people without limiting them to one social space. It spans the web and there are a lot of possibilities for it. For example, Ebay users could have a ball with it discussing sellers, products, and bids with their fellow bidders.

The problem with Chatsum is traction, or lack there of. If only a handful of kids have signed up and downloaded the extension, there won’t be any vibrant discussing or socializing going on. They should expand the social bit more, add more networking features to help users connect.
