Xmarks is the iteration of the well known and already very successful Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer of the Foxmark company. It’s been a long time since the original product was launched, but now in their crusade to “turn web searches upside down” they decided to change their name for something that was a bit less Firefox centric. The reason why they do this is because they want to tap in to the market of other browsers.

This free browser extension allows users to synchronize their bookmarks across multiple computers. Additionally, this tool allows for remote bookmark access when you’re away from your personal computer. The extension is currently fully operational on the Firefox platform; however progress is good towards introducing the extension to the Safari and Internet Explorer environments. Word has it that the people at Xmarks are well underway in negotiations with Google to bring their extension to the newly introduced Chrome.
