    WikiSlice.Webaroo.com - Browse Wikipedia Offline

    wikislice

WikiSlice is an application that allows you to view related topics and sub-topics when you are reading Wikipedia entries. Those familiar with the Wikepedia format will know that in order to view subtopics, you have to click on hyperlinks and upon doing so you are taken to a new section. WikiSlice displays all of this information in one easy to use area, so you are able to read all related information at once. This solution is available both as a web-based application and also as a desktop program that can be downloaded and then accessed when you are offline. To use WikiSlice, simply type the subject you are interested in into the search bar provided and it will rapidly provide you with all relevant entries about your term.

    In their own words

“While using Wikipedia, you may have felt the need to view related topics or sub-topics. When you create a WikiSlice, the topics and sub topics are displayed prominently, so that you can quickly view them. You also see popular pages related to what you are searching or browsing.”

Why it might be a killer

People will love being able to view all information about topics without having to link from one place to the next. The availability of the solution in desktop format will also appeal to those who aren’t always able to be online while researching.

    Some questions

Are people already accustomed enough to the Wikepedia form of searching to not require a more organized searching solution? Is an offline solution really all that appetizing in today’s world of high speed wireless internet?
