Wakoopa.com - Desktop Analytics to Write Home About?

Leave it to the Dutch to come up with an applications tracker called Wakoopa. So what´s it do and how does it work? The basic gist of this project is that you use certain desktop apps all the time and others less so, the point being that Wakoopa will keep track of your usage and preferences. It´s also got a Rails powered networking site so that you can share your deets with friends and strangers. Users can review their favorite apps, submit comments and download new apps. The site tracks your usage time, how many apps you use, and your profile is updated every 15 minutes. So it´s been compared to Last fm, but it hasn´t quite got the cool factor of music, in fact, it´s got a rather nerdish appeal, at most. But, perhaps it will change the way you look at your software. Wakoopa is currently in private beta, but it´s going live in 3 days.

Isn´t this a tad too, er, well techie oriented and rather useless for the average lot? Desktop apps and desktop app analytics aren´t going to attract and woo the crowd. What does it all equate to anyways, does how often someone uses MSN or Excel really demand that you go all social network-y on it?
