    Typeit.org -Type Foreign Characters

    typeit

Are you a student of Swedish? Residing in Romania? If you have a US-style keyboard, typing out those accents may be a bit of a problem. Luckily, TypeIt is here to help. The site has pre-set characters and other punctuation found in eleven different languages (ranging from Czech to Portuguese to Turkish) that users can type and insert into a text box to copy and paste to emails, chats, and written documents. The creator, Thomasz P. Szynalski, a native Polish speaker, created TypeIt after he grew frustrated at the inefficiency of inserting accents into word documents (if the computer even possessed that technology at all).

    In their own words

“If you have the need to type anything in a foreign language which has accents and other strange-looking characters, and you only have a US keyboard, your life used to be miserable. Now, through the miracles of Unicode and JavaScript, you can just navigate to this site, type whatever you need to type in a text box, and then paste it wherever you need it.”

Why it might be a killer

Szynalski saw a common problem, and he fixed it by creating a simple application. Although Microsoft Word usually has accent applications installed, typing accents in emails and chats is still a common problem that TypeIt rectifies.

    Some questions

Is it worth using TypeIt for informal chatting and emails? It is usually easier to just forgo accents and still be understood.
