Self-described as “as simple tool using the Twitter API to measure the combined influence of twitterers and their followers”, twInfluence is one of the most recent additions to a set of tools that make for gauging the overall receptiveness of users of said micro blogging platform.

The site explains that there is an actual difference between having a follower who is in fact a a bot which has not followers of its own, and having a follower that is in turned followed by 1,000 individuals. This is the main contribution that such an analysis tool intends to bring to the fore, as it is an actual way of establishing who really exerts an influence over whom.

There are two different rankings which are calculated by twInfluence. One is an overall rank in relation to all analyzed twitterers to date, whereas the other assigns a value and a category that takes into account other twitterers with have approximately the same number of followers. These are named “Overall Rank” and “Grade Rank” respectively.
