Twitter of course is the popular microblogging application. It’s so popular that it’s spawned dozens upon dozens of apps designed to in some way enhance your Twitter experience. And so we have Twhirl. Twhirl is a Twitter desktop client which is based on Adobe’s new AIR platform (which enables the creation of desktop apps using web dev techniques). Besides letting you post tweets, follow friends’ tweets, etc, Twhirl brings you a handful of features you wouldn’t expect. With Twhirl you can connect to multiple accounts all of which are conveniently color coded, you’ll receive both audible and visual notifications for new tweets, there are keyboard shortcuts (F for friends, R for replies, etc), and long URLs are shortened with snurl. Twhirl will fetch any new status updates from your friends along with replies and messages in one timeline. You can choose to favorite, @, DM or re-tweet, i.e. tweet verbatim from another tweet.
