There is no end to the amount of “novelty” apps for Twitter, and that fact is amply demonstrated by Tweet Randomizer. In principle, it is a tool whereby you can pick a “Twitter follower of the day” for your account.

The way the system has been set up means that you are not required to sign up. As a matter of fact, you don’t even have to disclose your Twitter credentials. All you have to do is type a Twitter nickname and then you will be presented with the “follower of the day” for that account.



Besides the obvious fun quotient that this has (such as becoming the “follower of the day” for someone famous), this site also has some potential as far as promoting activities and contests that you held in your blog or site are concerned. I say so because you are allowed to link to your page (for example, http://tweetrandomizer/example/) in order to try and attract followers.

While I think that the service is mostly a passing curiosity, I am interested in seeing which uses people put this to and whether it can effectively boost any marketing campaign or not.
