TweetGift allows you to send little gifts to your twitter friends. Items available to send include a heart, song, beer, penny, ipod, coffee, flower, teddy bear, santa hat, trophy, star, candy cane, and a shot. You can also add a message to your present letting the recipient know why they are getting their gift. To send a tweet gift, you send a tweet to tweetgift with the syntax of the item you want to give, for example if you wanted to send me a beer, you would enter: @tweetgift @kohniva beer for writing a great post on tweetgift. Unfortunately, you can’t see the images of the items directly from twitter, which would make sending them far more fun. To view the true gift instead of just the syntax for it, you have to go to their main site, which shows a stream of the latest gifts and their messages. The beer is the most common tweetgift, followed by the coffee. Clearly people need their fluids on twitter.

This is a cute addition to the various twitter sites out there, making free presents all part of the fun of sending tweets. The site is well designed and people will enjoy sending and receiving the gifts, kind of like pokes and gift giving on Facebook. This could be a cool program to integrate with Facebook and the twitter app already available.
