You gotta love iTunes. It's pretty, goes with your iPod, Nano, shiny, new 3G iPhone and comes with it's own vastly stocked store complete with cheap tunes and videos. What's not to like? TuneUp, which just launched publicly, adds to the iTunes arsenal, with a downloadable plugin for cleaning up your musical library. Everybody that's got an iTunes library inevitably has a number of mislabeled songs, missing album covers and a general chaos, because, face it, you didn't exactly buy all your music from the iTunes store, did you? So this is where TuneUp comes in handy. It's partnered with GraceNote, which has amassed an impressive catalogue of over 80 million songs. Using GraceNote, TuneUp delves through your music collection and offers you four options: "Clean", "Cover Art", "Now Playing" and "Concerts". The first option will help with mislabeled songs and clean up multiples or things like mismatched albums. The "Cover Art" option will find missing or mislabeled cover art for albums and songs. "Now Playing" acts as a music recommendation engine offering related songs, YouTube videos, and eBay items. The final tab, "Concerts" lets you in on any upcoming shows in your area. Oddly enough, TuneUp is currently only available for Windows (Mac will follow soon), and for the full package comes with a $12 annual fee.

Why the Windows only public launch? Afterall, iTunes is an Apple creation. Will the pay for service angle drive potential users away?
