Pixel art may not be everyone’s idea of fun, but for some, it’s awesome. Cubescape lets you (yes, you) create your very own isometric pixel art. Never thought you could do that did you? So what exactly is pixel art, and why on earth would you want to make some of your own? Think of Space Invaders or Super Mario, but gone mad. Pixel art is certainly old school but what’s old school is officially cool again. Getting started is easy, just click the ‘Start Dropping Cubes’ icon, and you’re good to go. Choose from an array of colors, and if you don’t like what you’ve created, go ahead and blow them up. Then replay the action for fun. Save your creation for later. It can be a time consuming feat to create a true work of pixel art.

Cubescape is neat if you like pixel art. It’s also good fun to play around with and create something of your own even if you’re not an aficionado per se. It’s a good distraction for work or an airport or a horrible traffic jam.

Will people actually want to spend hours and hours creating their own pixel art? Will they get bored with it after the initial curiosity? What’s the business plan? Or is this simply an artistic endeavor?
