What some might see as a minor glitch with these chat tools, however, is their limited ability to connect people, especially in this age of 2.0 when socializing and conglomerating large groups of friends is so popular. Skabble aims to change that. Skabble’s a chat tool which allows fellow Skabble users to chat with each other when browsing the same website. In this way, people with similar interests are able to get to know each other and bond. Users can IM anyone in the same room as they’re in; Skabble supports both audio/video chat and keyboard based chat. The Skabble client is a relatively light download and it’s free (works with Windows only).

Skabble will appeal to users who are looking to expand their contacts and those who are interested in finding online friends who share the same interests. It’s easy enough to set up and it allows for multimedia interaction. It works just like any IM/chat client, so there’s no learning curve really whatsoever.

The problem with Skabble is that users are limited to chatting only with other Skabble users, so in the beginning that number will be quite small. How will Skabble market itself to get more users on board? Will it develop a Facebook app?
