ShoeBoxed.com - Your Dedicated Shopping Inbox

In yet another attempt to help you organize your online life, Shoeboxed has set its sights on the sometimes unruly business of internet shopping. Signing up for a Shoeboxed accounts means you’ll be able to keep track of all your purchases, freeing your inbox along the way. How it works: once registered, simply use your brand new Shoeboxed email address whenever you buy something online. The receipt and all relevant info will be organized and displayed in your account. This of course means you’ll have all your receipts on hand if you require reimbursement. You can even organize different “shoeboxes” for related categories e.g. clothes, school, books. All ads and notifications will go to your Shoeboxed account, thereby eliminating clutter from your usual inbox. Help is available 24/7.

  In their own words

“Shoeboxed is dedicated to providing users with a secure and easy way to manage their online financial information. We offer a free online service that automatically tracks and organizes users' online purchases in a clear and tabular format. We also give users a greater ability to reduce spam in their personal inboxes by allowing them to divert countless store notifications and receipts out of their inboxes and into their Shoeboxed accounts.”

Why it might be a killer

Shoeboxed has a great idea. Internet shopping can overwhelm your inbox. Even after you’ve made your purchases you’re still likely to receive ads and discount notices, which you probably don’t pay attention to anyways. With Shoeboxed you can quickly reference receipts, organize coupons, and keep things tidy.

  Some questions

Will people find a need for a separate shopping inbox? Do users really want another email address to contend with? Isn’t it just as easy to use your normal email service with select filters?

There is already a service that stores your online purchase receipts for you. It's at http://www.spinningtornado.com It is a secondary service that is an added benefit to the fact that you can get paid whenever you shop anywhere online. they capture your receipt details when you confirm your purchase.

Privacy is definitely a concern, I'm just not sure that I'm losing that much from being on their site. It's not like my information isn't being sent through insecure emails already. Plus it gives me a pretty nice tool for something that will probably be even more advanced as the ShoeBoxed team builds in new features. Overall, two thumbs up!

Why it might not be a killer?-Privacy - I, for myself, do not like other people 'know' and 'care' about my shopping documents, drawing some kind of shopping behavior on top of each big company to provide them with my statistical information. It's enough if the company, e.g. amazon knows about my shoppings.-Receipts comes often in paper form anyway which is used for reinbursment - at least with shipped goods. And in some cases you even need the paper form for tax.-Another email-address?-You can keep your account tidy, if you click "no I don't want any newsletter" - that is usually sufficient.

I love the idea! I would definitely use it, however it will take me some time to add all my store e-mails to Shoeboxed, and send store mail to spam in my personal e-mail. I would imagine once all that's done, it would really help clean out my personal e-mail account.
