To keep the malicious things out, there’s ScrubIt a recursive DNS server. It acts as a sort of screen door, blocking out porn, spam, phishing and the like. It promises to scrub the internet squeaky clean, so that children aren’t exposed to pornography and workers get back to work. This free service is targeted at both families and businesses. By signing up for the beta service, you can specify which sites to block. After the beta period, pricing will be tiered, although the basic service will remain free. Currently, it only works with Windows. To use it you can manually configure your router use ScrubIt’s DNS servers or you can download the ScrubIt utility (for XP and 2000 only). Once done malicious sites will be blocked. Over 3 million sites have been scrubbed so far.
