    Scenecaster.com - Construct 3D Virtual Spaces

    scenecaster

If the real world is up to par with your imagination, if it bores you to tears, create another one. Newcomer SceneCaster lets you construct your very own virtual worlds. While it labels itself as a '3D web community,' SceneCaster isn't so much about Second Life style etherspace socializing, as much as it is about creating 3D spaces that can be shared and displayed on the web. You'll need to install a plugin for IE or Firefox. Building a scene involves dragging objects onto a blank screen. You can import objects from the Google 3D Warehouse. Among the items available for decorating your space, a few can actually be purchased for your real living space from the likes of eBay or Amazon. Sign up for a free account today.

    In their own words

"SceneCaster is led by a dedicated group of technology entrepreneurs who have delivered advanced Web services, rich media and 3D applications for consumers and global businesses for more than a decade now. All that we've strived for culminates in SceneCaster.
We are building an interactive, collaborative and immersive online community for everyone. With SceneCaster, anyone anywhere can easily create, share and interact with 3D scenes on the Web. All you need is a Web browser and a spark of inspiration to get started, it's that easy."

Why it might be a killer

SceneCaster is an interesting app. The commercial tie-ins make it a likely platform for advertising and for marketing campaigns. It could also be used by designers for building mock-ups to show their clients, or for brainstorming.

    Some questions

Are more social features on the way? Is this aimed more at professional designers/creatives? Will they improve on the controls, making them more user-friendly?
