Qwaq.com - Metaverse For Office Collaboration

Qwaq delivers virtual collaboration spaces for enterprises. You could think of it as SecondLife for the office. Their forums have been developed so that users can join a session, drag in MS documents or videos or other files for sharing and collaborate with their colleagues; all sessions begin where you left off, so you can resume your work immediately, the next time you log in; also, as the work is persistent, all changes and additions can be seen by al members. Any documents you bring in are displayed on the walls of your virtual space and changes are shown in real time. Qwaq has ready to use rooms which can be further customized; otherwise users can build offices, labs, or conference rooms from scratch. Outdoor spaces can be created using the Virtual Campus tool. It's the future of web conferencing.

  In their own words

"Qwaq, Inc. is creating virtual spaces for the enterprise that enable collaboration in ways that weren't possible before. Qwaq Forums, the company's first product, is a secure virtual workspace application that significantly increases the productivity of distributed teams by bringing critical resources together in virtual places, as if they were in an actual physical location. A highly interactive and persistent environment, Qwaq Forums enables users to work, collaborate with others, and identify and solve problems."

Why it might be a killer

Qwaq has come up with an ingenious solution to web conferencing. Its immersive experience is different from other services, which makes it appealing. Key features seem to be the persistence aspect, the ease of content sharing, and its strong focus on imitating actual presence.

  Some questions

Is the pricing competitive? Will users have difficulty adapting?
