ProCon.Mozdev.org - A Safer Internet

Some of the most violent attacks that the WWW was subjected to upon first emerging involved the lack of safety for children, and people started looking for ways to monitor the access to such an expansive resource. Applications that cater for that purpose have always been a mainstay on the web, and the one we are discussing right now is a Mozilla Firefox extension that can be procured free of charge.





ProCon is described on its own website as a content filter that can be applied to any web page in question. By default, ProCon filters contents automatically based on the text of pages that contain explicit contents. Moreover, a profanity filter is included to ensure that the little ones don’t come across inappropriate materials and start asking questions that are best left alone. Finally, a whitelist can be created in order to make up a database of trusted sites that can be readily accessed.
