A joint venture between AT&T and Vizible will soon offer surfers an alternative to Internet Explorer, FireFox et al, in the form of PogoBrowser. The browser adds visually stimulating 3D animations to the general one-dimension world of internet browsing by producing miniatures of each site much like Windows Vista currently does with program files. Tabbed browsing is also supported; however the tabs are displayed as miniature web pages at the bottom of the browser. PogoBrowser also has a multitude of visual tools for viewing page history and favorites which are displayed in a miniature webpage thumbnail format as well. del.icio.us users will be especially happy to note that their favorites can be imported directly the browser.

In their own words
“Leveraging Vizible™ patented technology, AT&T and Vizible Corporation
have partnered to bring Project Pogo to market.”
Why it might be a killer
Visually speaking, this might well be the most pleasing-to-look at browser available and that alone should lead to significant numbers of early adopters. The backing of AT&T also makes this a project worth taking seriously and it will be interesting to see how they leverage their pre-existing customer base to help gain traction with this new project.
Some questions
The release of Firefox 3 and the plug-ins available for it might make Pogobrowser a redundant solution before it ever hits the ground. That said, the majority of surfers still use Internet Explorer and if AT&T can put its muscle behind convincing them to switch over, this browser may become another major player in the space.
