PixelNovel.com - Upload images to Flickr directly

PixelNovel.com is a new startup that basically has two (one of them still not released) programs for you to download. The first one is a pretty cool one called FlickrShop, and consists of a plug-in for Photoshop that will allow you to upload your photoshop files directly to Flickr. This means one thing only: it will allow you to save loads of time since you will not have to save your Photoshop file, check in which folder you have saved it, browse through the whole folder searching between loads of files that are all called alike (e.g. Untitled1.psd, Untitled2.psd, Utitled2_a.psd, and so on), opening it again and waiting for it to upload into Flickr. All of this hassle is quickly replaced by one simple step: with your FlickrShop you will have an “Upload to Flickr” option in your Photoshop menu, that you will have to click on and that’s it. More is coming on the way. Another program you will be able to download called Compare PSD, that is very promising, but since its not released yet we won’t be able to review it until it is.

How many Flickr users are out there? I think loads and loads of them may be an understatement. Of them, many are Photoshop users, that will want to give a bit of that Photoshop magic to their images before uploading them to Flickr. Well, PixelNovel is giving them the quickest and easiest way to do it with this Photoshop called FlickrShop. As the first program being released by this three guy team, it maxes PixelNovel a very promising website for the future.

Why is it only available for Mac users? Will they release a PC version soon? When are they going to release some more of this cool stuff? Is it worth it launching a startup that only has one program that you can download, and nothing else but the promise of a second one coming soon? Will they be able to compete with other websites that offer different methods besides Photoshop to put some touches to your images? Aren’t they aiming at a bit of a reduced public (Mac users, that are also Flickr users, and also Photoshop users?) Won’t they have a much larger target public if they release PC versions of these programs too?
