Ninjam.com - Jamming In Real Time Across the Net

    ninjam

Music lovers will love this. There’s a new site dedicated to real-time jamming over the web. The site is called NINJAM, short for Novel Intervallic Network Jamming Architecture for Music and it’s an amazing collaborative tool. You can jam with Max from Argentina or Moritz from Moscow—the world is yours to conquer with NINJAM. Just download the app and start jamming. You can tweak the audio features to your liking. You can also add effects. Each jammer can hear the other. So if your college band has had to be separated by summer break, you can still get together via the internets and practice. This is done using audio compression technology, namely OGG Vorbis, to compress the tracks and stream them to the other people in your group. After the jam session, you can even do remixes. It works with both Mac and Windows

    In their own words

“NINJAM is a program to allow people to make real music together via the Internet. Every participant can hear every other participant. Each user can also tweak their personal mix to his or her liking. NINJAM is cross-platform, with clients available for Mac OS X and Windows.”

Why it might be a killer

NINJAM is very cool technology indeed. It’s a great resource for musicians and tech fans alike. It’s easy to use and download and works across platforms.

    Some questions

Is NINJAM the next step in music technology? Will musicians like the jam sessions NINJAM offers? Or will they want more?
