MyDaySpace.com - Purchase Your Very Own Day

Newcomer MyDaySpace is hawking something called day space which boils down to a virtual calendar in which each day is on sale to whoever wants to own a chunk of cyberspace dedicated to a specific date. As a purchaser, you’re entitled to publish whatever you want using the site’s ready-made templates. The site has calendared 100 years into the past and the same into the future. If you purchase a date in the future, your page will be published live on the homepage for a full 24 hours. The price for you own immemorial day is $49 via Paypal. Once you’ve purchased your day you’ll have thirty days to edit and publish its content. Once it is published, it’s set in stone as it were—no editing or changes are allowed. There are plenty of days left, should you care to purchase one today.

  In their own words

“In every life there is a special day or three. Be it a birthday, a wedding, an engagement or a graduation. The announcement of a birth, the rememberance of a life. Days of celebration or days of commemoration. Days that we not only want to mark and share with the world, but that we want to own in cyberspace permanently - as a tribute to our life and our loved ones.

myDaySpace.com allows your memories to live forever. By creating a universal online calendar - stretching back over 100 years and looking forward into the future - mydayspace.com lets you own a piece of time for eternity.”

Why it might be a killer

DaySpace is premised on an interesting idea: the purchase of time—think what you could do if you owned a day, figuratively. It would make for a great nontraditional gift or homage to days past. It would be perfect for births, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day.

  Some questions

Is there a market for this? Will anyone shell out 50 bucks for some space on the net in which they are limited to templates and 30 day expiration dates? Frankly, you could create your own webpage for less cash and get more for your money. (the templates aren’t the prettiest nor slickest things out there).
