Musio is the newest application to hit the online music scene. Musio is both a desktop application and website service the promises to be totally free for life.

At a basic level, users can search for and play music, but musio offers much, much more. The desktop application includes information about the song the user is currently listening to, including concert information, reviews, similar tracks and artists, people nearby who like the same music, similar local bands, and trivia. On the website, you can recommend music, search for music in a general encyclopedia or by city, make universal play lists, and search for friends with similar tastes.

Musio seems to combine some of the best features from existing applications: find similar artists, see who in your community likes the same music as you, search for information about local bands. In short, Musio may have not come up with anything particularly groundbreaking, but the application combines the best of all worlds.

While Musio clearly states their strict privacy policy, doesn’t it seem strange, and slightly unnecessary, that they track all your listening data? Or, more specifically, is there a way to toggle the applications you want Musio to track?
