    Lala.com - Trade CDs for $1

    lala

Do you still use CDs in this era of mp3 players? Do you have a lot of old CDs you are tired of listening to, but find buying new CDs too expensive for your budget? Then head to Lala.com. Here, you trade your old CDs for the CDs other users have that they are willing to part with. Trading is easy on this site. You list the CDs you have, choose the CDs you want from a list of over 1.8 million, ship the CDs you have to the lala members that want them, and then receive the CDs you want from other lala members. There is no cost to ship the CDs because lala provides you with prepaid mailing kits. The only cost is to receive new CDs, which costs $1 plus .75 for shipping fees. This is much cheaper than buying a new CD for $18 in a music store, and the quality of all CDs is guaranteed, or your money back.

    In their own words

“The founders of lala, John, Billy, Anselm and I are devout music fans and created the service for the benefit of artists and fellow music fans.

Why it might be a killer

For people who want to remain on the legal side of music owning, this is a great source. This is far cheaper than the alternative of buying new CDs or songs new from other sources, plus people always have CDs they´ve grown tired of and are ready to exchange for something new. It´s like netflix for music. The site is also very easy to use and there is a huge selection to choose from. They also make a profit through the different contests and promotions they have, such as being entered to win an iPod Nano when you sign up for free.

    Some questions

Do enough people still use actual physical CDs any more? Will people go through the trouble of trading their CDs online when they could easily just exchange with their friends? Do enough people still pay to listen to music? Will high demand for specific CDs that is not met with the amount available cause people to become frustrated and turn to other sources for their music?
