In their own words
“Jungle Disk is an application that lets you store files and backup data securely to Amazon.com's S3 ™ Storage Service.
• Store an unlimited amount of data for only 15¢ per gigabyte
• No monthly subscription fee, no startup fee, no commitment
• Your data is fully encrypted at all times
• Data is stored at multiple Amazon.com datacenters around the country for high availability
• Access files directly from Windows Explorer, Mac OSX Finder, and Linux
• Automatically backup your important files quickly and easily
Unlike other services, with Amazon S3 ™ there is no minimum and no maximum amount of data you can store. You pay only for the actual amount of storage you are using.”
Why it might be a killer
JungleDisk.com has a simple clean interface. I like the logo with the leopard book logo, is a good addition to the jungle theme. There is a whole section dedicated to screen shots which is a great way for visitors to get comfortable with the application. The site is easy to navigate and contains a great deal of information. There are FAQ sections for all the categories on the site which is very helpful because the questions are specific to each category. The forum section is a nice addition; users can create polls and become part of groups.
Some questions
There are many other applications that let you back up and save your files. How will JungleDisk.com deal with the competition? When will users be able to access their files online? When will Amazon S3 allow files to be public?
