    HoneyFund.com - A Free Honeymoon Registry

    honeyfund

Are wedding bells in your near future? If so, then a honeymoon’s not far behind. With all the arrangements and expenses of a wedding, you might be tight on cash for your special post-ceremony get away. With HoneyFund, however, you can set up your very own free honeymoon registry service. Basically, it’s like a wedding gift registry except that your loved ones donate money for covering the cost of your honeymoon. Think of it as an alternative to getting yet another toaster or gravy bowl. Alternatively, you can make a list of items such as airfare, accommodations, cruises, etc., and have your friends pay for a single item. HoneyFund doesn’t deal with money as credit cards incur fees—purchases aren’t made via the website. Instead, guests are encouraged to print out a purchase certificate and bring checks to the wedding. Couples may also set up a Paypal account to accept credit card purchases and donations.

    In their own words

“Finally! A honeymoon wedding registry with no setup fees, no transaction fees, and no travel booking required. You get every penny to make your honeymoon happen. And when it does, you'll never forget it.”

Why it might be a killer

This is a great way for couples to really enjoy their wedding gifts. Instead of getting items that they really won’t use or like via a normal bridal registry, newlyweds can direct friends’ donations to their honeymoon, making it an occasion they won’t forget.

    Some questions

The setup is rather cumbersome. It’d probably easier for friends and family to simply pay by credit card. The purchase certificates don’t actually prove that a gift has been bought; someone may forget. Couples will have to pay for the travel reservations beforehand and may come up short once all the gifts/donations are tallied.
