GoogleModules.com - Content for Google's Start Page

Now that Google has launched it’s own start page, you have the ability to aggregate all kinds of modules, widgets and feeds to the pages. Though, it becomes ironic that the most widely used search engine in the world doesn’t have a means to search and discover new modules for the startpage.

The UnOfficial GoogleModules website runs concurrent to Google’s API and allows you to find and submit modules for the Google Personlized Homepage. You can search through most popular or get lucky with a random module. Subscribe to their RSS feed to get periodic updates when new submissions have been added to their database.

Google's Personalized Homepage (and its API) allows you to add all kinds of modules – from weather maps to a Yahoo search box to anything really. There was one problem though: there was no place to easily find or submit modules. Google has a directory of their own, but it doesn't update with new submissions often and it only shows few modules. That's why we hacked up Google Modules for you.

While the Google Personalized Homepage was an excellent progression for Google, the follow up for the module database wasn’t exactly a successful exectution, considering their directory is missing tons of modules. GoogleModules make it so simple to be alerted on new Google Modules via their RSS feed. This new startup provides an excellent solution with a clean, no fuss interface.

Will they branch out and launch other module directory services for other start pages? Will Google launch a similar service and wipe GoogleModules off of the map?
