    GoLoco.org - The Ride Revolution

    goloco

Environmentally conscious and want to lower you CO2 emissions from driving by yourself everyday? Have a long road trip you are making with friends, but know that asking for money to split the cost of gas will be an awkward chore? GoLoco is here to help you find carpools and share payments on rides before they ever even happen. You just search for where you´re looking to go and see if someone else is also going to the same place. This way you can share the cost of gas, while doing something to help cut the impact of your travels on the environment. Passengers can enter the trips they"d like to take and drivers can enter the trips they´ll be making and the price they will charge for someone to ride with them, and through the internet, riders pay before ever getting in the car. Once you´ve driven with someone, you can review them so that others know more about the person they´ll be sharing a ride with.

    In their own words

“GoLoco is a service that helps people quickly arrange ride sharing between friends, neighbors, and colleagues. We also handle online payments from passengers to drivers for their share of the trip costs.”

Why it might be a killer

It´s an interesting and unique idea that solves the carpooling cost distribution issue. If this grows, they´ll be making a nice amount of money because they make 10% of what each trip costs. As we grow more environmentally conscious and gas prices continue to rise, this could become a decent solution to minimizing a bit some of those problems.

    Some questions

Will people really pay an extra 10% for their rides? How will they promote this because it only works if a lot of people know about it, since rides are generally pretty specific?
